Some of the biggest mistakes I’ve made so far
(Not regrets—just lessons that stung hard enough to remember.)
1. Trusting other people’s success more than my own gut.
I listened to winners. Smart, accomplished folks.
But they weren’t me.
They didn’t have my constraints, context, or timing.
So instead of trusting my instincts, I tried to copy theirs.
Big mistake.
Their playbook was never mine to begin with.
2. Talking too early.
I once said a customer was onboard before the contract was signed.
Spoiler: they never signed.
Did the same with investors, even relationships.
Announcing too early puts pressure on things still taking shape.
Now? I wait.
Until it’s real. Or someone else says it first.
3. Learning too much and doing too little.
I’ve read, studied, and explored almost every new tech out there.
Great for trivia.
Not always great for momentum.
Truth is.. knowledge without application is just noise.
I’m learning to chase usefulness, not just curiosity.
4. Ignoring money.
I treated money like a side character.
Said no to things that paid well. Didn’t save.
Told myself it wasn’t that important.
But money is important.
Not to worship.. but to respect.
It’s like oxygen. You need just enough, flowing well, never leaking fast.
5. Acting like everything is life or death.
I’ve stressed over deals, goals, feedback, opinions.
Felt like the world was watching. It’s not.
People are busy living their own stories.
Not every delay is a disaster. Not every ‘no’ is about me.
There’s a line between intensity and desperation.
I’ve crossed it more than once.
Now I know better.
Still a work in progress.
Still messing up.
But at least now, I know which mistakes I’m not repeating.
That’s a start.
